Re: spyware on OS X

Actually, no, it was not due to spyware on OS X. There are currently no spyware removal programs for OS X, as there is no known malicious spyware for OS X.[1]

Most likely, the email address of the list and other list properties were harvested elsewhere.

[1] "Spyware" has a pretty broad definition...it can be anything from a website tracking cookie, to ads in software, to software that "phones home" with personal information, etc. Some of these elements may be present in various products on Mac OS X. But there is no known spyware that attempts to hide itself and do wholesale data and personal information harvesting in the same vein as the many things that do this on Windows.

Hi

Recently, there was an outbreak of spam on this list. It is possible that this could be related to implanting spyware.

I would appreciate it if anybody on this list could suggest any spyware detection/removing programs for OS X.

Many thanks.
Ebrahim
