Problems setting up a cluster

Hi,

I started to setup a cluster of Xserves recently. Initially I was planning to use
either NetBoot either NetInstall. Therefore I configured my head node (xserve with optical drive+3HD),
and one node with "Server Assistant". I installed some softs and libs.

Then I made an image of the 2nd node (with "Network Image Utility");
DHCP, NFS/AFS, NetBoot were running on the head node.
I tried to netboot another nodes (using the front-end buttons).

It appears it did not worked as intended (I probably missed something crucial...).
Configuration is exactly the same as the node used to produce the image (therefore same IP, name etc...).
I would like now to use "Server Assistant" again, but it does not find the node anymore.

1- How do I restore the initial state of the xserve ?
Removing /var/db/.AppleSetupDone does not make any difference, "Server Assistant" still
does not find the node to re-configure.

2- Since I obviously misunderstood something, I have tried several ways to produce a "clean" image
(without IP/name dependance). Result is somehow worse:
this way, I have produced several unstable systems on the netboot clients.
Now when I try to boot them, they hung in some undetermined state, without any possibility
to log on them or reach them with "admin tools" (it probably just a bad network configuration...).
Of course "Server Assistant" cannot reach them.

3- I still do not understand how does the "Auto Server Setup" system work, with the <IP>.plist or <MAC>.plist
or generic.plist. Can somebody explain ?

I have a serial terminal, but no video card, no ARD (but OSXvnc on the head node),
and I can reach head node with ssh.

Thank you very much in advance,
