This has been beaten to death, but I certainly hope everyone got the
message: if you have a broadband My experience with a NAT router on my
home system for the past 4 years or so has been perfect. It has never
been penetrated. I recently switched from DSL to cable. The cable
modem activity light is going constantly, but none of that traffic
gets through (and yes, I have been watching to see). I also run ipfw
with tight controls. Most likely overkill, but if the firewall does
get cracked they still have to crack my firewall and then crack my
system.
Is *that* why the modem activity light is always going? Good heavens.
I'm doubly glad for my firewall now!
