Re: cluster performance



I just performed another test, slightly different code (167Mb per process) running on 16 CPUs.
Speed-up on this code is 96% on the X1. Communication and computation overlap.


Cray X1: 8,128 CPU seconds (508 s/CPU)
Xserve G5: 24,400 CPU-seconds (1,525 s/CPU)

This means that the G5, for my code as configured, is 1/3rd as fast as the Cray X1.

Do you have comparison numbers on other non-G5 clusters to share?
