Hi all,
I'm a developer in the *ASCEND modelling environment* project. This is a
modular program for solving systems of nonlinear and/or differential
equations. It is intended for use by mathematicians, engineers, and
scientists generally, with functionality similar in some ways to GAMS,
AMPL, and others. Its original goals were in chemical process modelling,
but it is completely general and capable of solving equation-based
models from any discipline. ASCEND is licensed under the GPL, so is free
and open-source.

So, I'm writing to ask if there is anyone here in the Apple Sci/Tech
community who would be interested in *participating* in the ASCEND
project, specifically to help with the work of porting ASCEND to the Mac
platform. We have been able to run ASCEND on a wide range of platforms
already, but Mac has not been one of them. So I don't anticipate major
problems, at least with getting the basic code working. We're using C,
C++, Python, SWIG, and a couple of other things.
If anyone's interested, please let me know. Even if it's just some kind
soul who could offer us an SSH login so we could compile and debug remotely?
Cheers,
JP
