Bandwidth reservation in Streaming servers and clients

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to reserve the bandwidth in Streaming Servers and
Clients like: QuickTime, RealPlayer, ... ?

Or should I do it on a Network layer (Layer 3)? Using RSVP, ...?

Any other ways of doing it?

Would be appreciated for any suggestion.
