My kingdom (such as it is, kingdom not included) for an example that illustrates how to create an RTCP packet (APP, SDES, etc.) and send it to DSS / QTSS! The sockets part i'm cool with, it's the formatting of the RTCP packet that i'm confused by. Any direction to something that may explain this to me would be appreciated!

Look at the "openRTSP" application <http://www.live.com/openRTSP/> as an example of an application that (successfully) sends RTCP packets to the DSS.

Basically, DSS stops sending packets to my client after 10 measly audio and video RTP packets, and i'm thinking it's because i'm sending it improper RTCP.

You should check that your RTCP packets are being sent from the correct source port (and, of course, to the correct destination port on the DSS). When developing "openRTSP", I ran into a problem like yours, and discovered that my problem was that I was sending from the wrong source port.
