Quick version: Does anyone know why QT player trying to connect to
a DSS4 MP3 playlist is returning "Unknown error 10060"?
Detailed version:
Over the past week or so, I've been trying to track down a problem
wherein DSS4 (Sparc Solaris) has stopped streaming MP3s to my work
site, but works fine within my home LAN network. What usually happens
is that the client, (Winamp Agent NT) tries to connect for about 5
seconds and then reports a timeout. Sometimes the timeout seems to
happen very quickly however, far more quickly than I would expect a
timeout to take. This morning I noticed that QT Player attempts to
connect for about 10 seconds and then reports "Unknown error 10060".
I don't know if this is related to the problem I reported several
weeks ago where I saw that Winamp would play the first song of a
playlist and then stop, as if the stream was done, even though
streaming was continuing.
My first instinct was to think that my company had shutdown port 554,
but trying other other random port numbers doesn't seem to make a
difference. Also, I can receive other broadcasts ok.
As far as I can tell, nothing has changed on my DSS4 configuration. If
anyone has solved any similar problem, I'd appreciate hearing how they
did it.
