sorry... this is NOT the NTP date, it is the time in seconds from epoch (Jan 1 01:00:00 UT 1970). Anybody out there who knows the number of seconds between epoch and 0000 UT on 1 January 1900? If so, you can calculate the current NTP date by adding this number to the result of date "+%s". Does anybody know a better solution?
