Sorry, but you really need to read the documentation and
on-line help which comes with the Streaming Server. It
covers most of these and should be of help.
Things which it appears you're missing are:
1) Did you hint the QT Movie Trailers that you downloaded
before placing them in your /Library/QuickTimeStreaming/Movies/
directory?
If not, then they certainly won't stream (you'll get a 415 error)
2) Are you _certain_ that the movie trailers are all using the same
codec's, bitrates, and have compatible "sdp" descriptions before
trying to combine them into a single Playlist?
This is very important, and is something that is documented
regarding the Playlist Broadcaster. All your movies need to
be authored using the EXACT same criteria (especially the codecs,
bitrates, etc.) otherwise you'll run into the problems. The issue
is that during the 'transitions', a new .sdp is NOT generated,
but rather all the movies must be "compatible" (see the docs)
in order to be played in a Playlist.
Maybe you would have had better luck if you had made 3
different playlists, each one consisting of a single movie
(of course, you'd then just have a live loop of that the
same movie over and over). Make sure you use Sequential
Looped (if you only have one movie in your playlist rather
than Weighted_Random).
3) As for the Slow speed of the Web Admin and the warning about
security, you need to read the on-line Help. To get there
do this:
a) In the Streaming Web Admin, click on the (?) icon
b) Then, in the help window, click on the <More> button
under "News - The latest info about compatibility and
updates".
c) Then, in the new help window that is displayed,
look in the left-hand column for:
"Preventing security error messages"
d) Click on it, and it will show you what config file to
edit, by adding an ssl=0 line to it. You'll then need
to either kill off the streaming admin server's Perl
process, and then start it again... or else just reboot
your machine, whichever is easier for you.
