From your problem description, its not clear to me what error
occurs, nor what application/client is providing you with the
error.
Also, you didn't mention whether or not the movie had been
'hinted' prior to you trying to stream it.

Is it possible that the movies created on a windows PC were
not hinted prior to you trying to stream them out of your
QTSS/DSS Movies folder?

My suggestion based on the information you've provided is
to make sure that you always export the movies as Hinted QuickTime
Movies before trying to stream them.
Also, you shouldn't take a hinted movie, work on it (ie. with a movie
editor), and then expect it to still stream.
If you've made any edits/cuts/pastes/etc. with a movie after it
has been hinted, then you need to re-hint it again before the movie
will stream correctly.
Maybe this was your problem.
