Re: No Remote Streaming

Hello there,

I assume you're using an RTSP formatted URL to attempt to connect to your
QTSS server....

     1. Is your streaming QT Client behind a firewall or network that would
          block UDP traffic?

     2. Are you running Apache web server on the same IP address (possible
conflicts over port 80 between QTSS and Apache).

My first suggestion would be to make sure that Apache is disabled, and then
kill off and restart QTSS. Make sure that in the Streaming Web Admin
that you have port 80 enabled (under settings).

Then from your remote streaming QT Client machine, set your preferences
to use HTTP as the default streaming transport.

Now, use Open URL... (in your QT Player on the remote streaming client)
and see if you get a stream:

    rtsp://qtss.domain.com/sample.mov

Another possibility is do any other IP services work from your
remote client machine (ie. can you ping your QTSS server from the
client, is DNS setup correctly on the client, etc.)

When I try to access the same movies from another computer using the same URL, I get "Connecting" and nothing else. The movies never load and play from a remote connection.
