RE: Streaming .avi file with Darwin

Hi,
You may want to look at MPEG4IP since you're running linux. I believe
that it creates MPEG4 movies that are compatible with DSS. I'm sure
there are other MPEG4 encoders out there, just look for something that
isn't DivX and give it a try.

You may want to have a look at the AVI2MOV tool included in the
following package:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/divx.html
I haven't used it, but it may allow you to convert your DiVX AVI to a
QT-compatible codec.

You may also try posting a question about converting DivX to a QT codec
on the qt-talk mailing list, if the above tool won't perform the
conversion correctly. If you can just convert your existing movie, you
won't have to restart the encoding from scratch.

The problem that you're having with the mpeg importation is probably due
to the mpeg file having the audio/video tracks "muxed" together. I'm
not sure how to demux the tracks.. That would be another good question
to ask on the qt-talk mailing list, unless someone here can address it.
