Re: How to assign a defined IP address to DARWIN streaming service?

Christian:

Localhost is always going to be used. This is important for streaming relays, and reflected streams. The 6970/71 ports are used for incoming broadcast from a live encoder (on the even port) and send status back to the encoder (odd port). This way you can reflect a live stream on one of those IPs. That can be useful if you have an internal NAT'd address, and want to reflect a live stream to an external IP address. Note that the server is only listening on TCP ports on "333.333.333.333" and 127.0.0.1. Those are the only addresses that will respond to streaming clients.

Dear community group,

Based on a fresh first time installation I ONLY changed <PREF NAME="bind_ip_addr" >333.333.333.333</PREF> where 333.333.333.333 is my 3rd IP address reserved for DSS. So other services running on the same windows server 2003 using ONLY the 1st and 2nd IP address are not interfered!

DSS is running with PID#1516 at Windows Task-Manager. Looking at "netstat -a -n -o" I see PID#1516 at this lines...

I am not sure why I also see my 1st and 2nd IP address also captured by DSS but next to the 127.0.0.1 (don't want to stream to the server's LCD nor intranet!!!) I REALLY would like to see DSS ONLY using the 3rd IP.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
Thanks a lot in advance!

Christian

Just modify the "bind_ip_addr" where 123.123.123.1 = YOUR IP

Example:
<PREF NAME="bind_ip_addr" >123.123.123.1</PREF>

If you want to use multiple IPs for DSS use the list prefix:
<LIST-PREF NAME="bind_ip_addr" TYPE="char">
  <VALUE>123.123.123.1</VALUE>
  <VALUE>123.123.123.2</VALUE>
</LIST-PREF>

cheers

Paul

Dear community group,

There are several lines that refer to "IP" at C:\Program Files\Darwin Streaming Server\streamingserver.xml

<PREF NAME="bind_ip_addr" >0</PREF>

<PREF NAME="do_report_http_connection_ip_address" TYPE="Bool16"
false</PREF>

<PREF NAME="alt_transport_src_ipaddr" ></PREF>

<PREF NAME="ip_allow_list" >127.0.0.*</PREF>

<PREF NAME="IPAccessList" >127.0.0.*</PREF>

The question is which ones should be changed to the
mentioned third IP address (or are there additional
config files to edit) so that DSS is only listening
to requests coming over that specific IP and also
provide content (whatever protocol) only over this
3rd IP address.

Note: All 3 IP addresses are internet IP's with no
router, firewall, NAT,... between. No other service
will interfere DSS at the 3rd IP address.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Christian

Dear community group,

I'm running DARWIN streaming server on a single
windows server 2003. I configured 3 IP addresses.

- The first IP address is used by http web service
- The second is used for Windows Media Services
(http, mms, rtsp streaming over port 80)
- The third IP address should be used by the
  DARWIN streaming server service.

I wonder how I can tell the DARWIN service ONLY to
listen to the third IP and NOT interfere with services
running on other IP addresses at the SAME server.

Thanks a lot in advance for giving me a helping hand.

Yours,

Christian
