Re: throttleing dss?

Hi

You should take into account that the DSS maybe sends UDP data for
two minutes until it recognizes that your client has switched to
TCP streaming. This happens when your client probes for different
connection methods.

You can change this value with "rtp_timeout" in streamingserver.xml.
Default is two minutes.

Has anyone ever come up with a good way to handle multiple users on a
DSS w/o completely eating up the server's pipe?

No matter what target bandwidth the clips have been encoded for, the
server just spits it out at the client as FAST as it can. With my
internal testing network running at 100Mbit and the DSS server capped at
2Mbits, I can't get more than a couple of people viewing clips because
the server starts giving out Not Enough Bandwidth errors.

I shouldn't need 2Mbits of bandwidth for 4 people to watch a stream
encoded for 64kbits/sec
