MIME Type. Try it on IIS without a MIME type handler for .m4v; you get a “page not found” server error. IIS won’t even try to send the file.

This is what we added:

Extension: .m4v
Type: video/x-m4v

Extension: .mp4
Type: video/mp4

I don’t remember any more where this all is for Apache, I think in a file called “mime.types” in /etc/httpd.

Tried putting one of my videos saved to iPod video from my QT Pro player to my standard Web server with the .m4v extension.  Lot's 'O garbage on the Safari screen!  So I says to myself "Self, there must be a different way to handle iPod videos (m4v).  Our movies are short (30 sec to 2 minutes) so they'd be perfect for iPod - if I could just get 'em to work!

Pointers?
