Thanks for the tip.

However I run it on Slackware 10.2 (current) and have

  perl, v5.8.0 built for i486-linux

so unless some new perl modules is needed in this release,
I think I have what I need.

Is there anybody who has succesfully compiled, installed, run
and accessed DSS 5.5.1  as    http:myserver:1220 on a Linux system lately ?

If yes, what systems ? Anybody on Slackware x.xx ?
Any new kernel requirements ?

I have installed DSS 5.5.1 on Windows Serever 2000 but when I run the install.bat file I get the following error after it has asked me for admin name and password..

ActivePerl 5.8.0 or higher is required in order to run the Darwin Streaming Serv
er web-based administration.
Please download it from http://www.activeperl.com/ and install it.
