That doesn't sound right. I've had media streaming from sub- directories without any issue.

We do too, a lot. Could this subfolder be aliased to another disk or computer ?
Make sure you can actually access the file, check permissions, including the folder permissions, etc.

Trying to make another location with limited access to give to a dept on campus to
dump files into, so they don't touch anything that's already streaming or muck up
stuff.


I found sym-linking to an NFS share from the network file server worked really with for giving them their "own area" to muck around with.
