RE: Users and groups settings problem?

Thanks guys.

I followed the steps and here is how it went:

1) Worked fine

2) "chkconfig :command not found" until I used "su -"

3) Worked fine

4) unrecognized service

Predictably, rebooting does not help.

Does anyone have any more ideas?

Thanks

Hi Amanda,

I'm not entirely sure but I think the install process may automatically start Darwin Streaming Server.  I use the following scripts in /etc/init.d to have Darwin start automatically.  I found them somewhere on the Internet and left the reference to the original author in the script.

To use these scripts, follow these steps:

1) Move them to /etc/init.d:
mv /path/to/darwinssd /etc/init.d/\.
mv /path/to/darwinsad /etc/init.d/\.
2) Check them into the RC system
chkconfig --add darwinssd
chkconfig --add darwinsad
3) Verify that they will start on boot.
chkconfig --list darwinssd
chkconfig --list darwinsad
You should see something like this:
[root@ hostname ~]# chkconfig --list darwinssd
darwinssd       0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
4) Check Darwin SSD and SAD status
service darwinssd status
service darwinsad status
You should see something like this:
[root@hostname ~]# service darwinssd status
DarwinStreamingServer (pid 13709 13707) is running...
5) That's all.  You can try a reboot to see if it works but that is how our environment is setup and works well on reboots.

Thanks,
Paul
