Re: a codec-combination that would work with RealPlayer

Steven,

that's a useful report.
Do you know how good is RealPlayer at transport switching and such?
Will it start going TCP if UDP packets don't reach it?
Will it then also switch to port 80 and RTSP over HTTP if needed ?

thanks in advance

paul

For MS Windows, Real Player 11 will play standard MP4 streams, with AAC audio, delivered through DSS/QTSS, without requiring QT to be installed on the client machine. The H.264 codec is not supported. That works with live video and archived (VOD) video. That provides a solution for those users that won't, or can't, install QT on their computer.

For audio-only radio station streams, RP will play AAC streams delivered through DSS/QTSS. You can also reflect MP3 streams.

It would be nice if RP would support H.264 since that codec seems to offer the best quality for archived video at a given bit rate.
