Re: SMIL and Streaming Problem (urgent)

Do you have a url? I cannot reproduce the problem. For example, the following page works fine:
http://noxqt7.harvard.edu/smiltest.html

Hi Everyone,

Since QuickTime 7+ (6.4 is fine) and problem has shown up that is a real
pain.

A SMIL file that links to a RTSP streaming QuickTime file will drop the
audio after the video is paused and then restarted. It may pick it up again
or maybe not. I have tried different encoding and file types and it makes no
difference.

I then streamed just the audio and the problem occurred, so it is something
that is affecting just the audio.

The mov file streamed directly from QT player from "get URL" is fine. It is
also fine from a ref mov. The problem only occurs when player from a SMIL
and affects pretty well all the hundreds of videos we have. We use SMIL to
index video to clips...there are thousands of clips that are now less
usable. Teachers pause and start video all the time.

Here is a sample of a SMIL that shows this problem...shortly after the video
starts, pause and start:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE smil PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SMIL 1.0//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-smil/SMIL10.dtd";>
<smil xmlns:qt="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/smilextensions "
qt:time-slider="true">
<body>

   <video src="rtsp://videoqt.learnalberta.ca/quinze_en_ville.mov"; />

 </body>
</smil>

Man, this is about the third thing that QuickTime 7 has broke this year for
us! It is getting harder and harder to defend it's continued use here. They
still haven't fixed the IE frame targeting issue. JavaScript functionality
was pulled. The whole Flash layer off by default fiasco. We are still doing
damage control and still trying to get stuff to work for users that used to
work great. What's next??? I have been a huge advocate for QuickTime here,
but damn, I've just about had it. Apple promotes using QuickTime by listing
all the features and functionality it has, Then when we develop stuff that
uses these great things, we find out that that functionality could easily go
away and we are left hanging in the wind for the crows to pick at.

Any ideas would be appreciated, Thanks,
