I've certainly not installed it myself, nor have I installed any other CLI
tools other than:
bbedit
mysql
manopen (openman)
The image  majick one

I'd guess that mysql might've installed it, then, since I don't have md5sum on either of my machines. One of those has bbedit installed and the other has nothing extra. Both have the December developer tools.

I have mysql and bbedit installed but still no md5sum.

If I needed md5sum, I'd have it in a heartbeat, but I'm not currently doing any development that requires it.
