To be doing well in C++, one must be competent in C. So, from that
perspective, yes.
When you see how simply and elegantly the designers of Objective-C added
really powerful object-oriented capabilities to C, you'll be frustrated
with C++'s complexity. (I'm *not* saying that C++ isn't very, very good
for particular usages, but it seems ludicrous to me that C++ is often
taught as a first object-oriented language.)

If we are doing pretty well in Java and C++ we shouldnt have much of a
problem with objective c?

Start with C. Learn it thoroughly.
Then, Objective-C will take you around a couple of days to learn and
understand the syntax. Really "getting" object-oriented programming
will take a bit longer, but that mostly comes with experience, looking
at other people's code, etc.
Objective-C is (just a few) extensions on top of C; don't try to learn
both at once. Get the foundation then learn the little bit of extra
Objective-C stuff that goes on top of it.
If you're more interested in getting into something quick and not
wanting to learn programming "long term", you should perhaps stick with
AppleScript. These days, you can produce fairly powerful applications
with it. Or look into RealBASIC.

I was just wondering, you see I am new to programming and have started
learning Objective-C. I have had no previous experience in writing
programs (Except in Applescript which dosen't really count!). I have
bourght books and stuff to help me but realisticly, how long would you
you think it would take me to learn Objective-C so I can program
'decent' programs that are handling files, importing images. This sort
of thing?
