re octave build

I would stop trying to get configure to produce a workable makefile - configure debugging can be a nightmare. Just take the Makefile that configure produced and hack it to work. Clearly the f2c libraries are not being linked in. Just force the f2c libs to be on the link line. Find the second definition of xerbla and remove it.

_xerbla is apparently the BLAS error handler routine. Also, what
library is
missing for the other routines on the Mac? What other library is
needed? How
do we tell the Mac version to use the native Mac stuff?
