I have been trying to get the synthesizer program from
http://ZynAddSubFX.sf.net to work on mac OS X for some time now,
I have compiled all its dependencies (mxml-2, fftw 3.0.1, fltk 1.1.5,
zlib) and the program itself succesfully.
Upon running, the window hangs with a spinning wait cursor of doom,
forcing me to ctrl-c out from the terminal. I've found no useful info
in the console output or the terminal output.
I suspect it has to do with fltk but i cant confirm this, its just a
hunch. I can't make fltk 1.1.6 because it has trouble linking fluid:
[22:56:46 bennyp~/src/fltk-1.1.6] % > make
=== making src ===
=== making fluid ===
Linking fluid...
ld: Undefined symbols:
Fl_Widget::label(char const*)
make[1]: *** [fluid] Error 1
Why does Apple's ld act this way and can I fix it?
otherwise, can any of you suggest a course of action to get Zyn working?
I did some work with the developer over a VNC connection with GDB, and
he suggested that the problem wight have to do with threading, but
unfortunately, I deleted the logs and am very inexperienced with GDB
