USBGetManufacturerStringIndex... Indices in general

Sorry, dumb question #2. When issuing the USBGetManufacturerStringIndex call (and others that use UInt8 indices) how do I display the string? Where is the string actually stored? (I've used IOUSBDeviceInterface182 rather than IOUSBDeviceInterface) I'm also unsure of how to handle bitmaps from fields that start with bm (ie bmAttributes). Any pointers or suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers,
