When issuing the USBGetManufacturerStringIndex call (and others that use UInt8 indices) how do I display the string? Where is the string actually stored?
The string is stored in the device. It is retrieved by a GET_DESCRIPTOR device request, see chapter 9 of the USB spec. The string is in Unicode format.
How you'd do anything about this in X I don't know yet.
