I'm very new to this area of programming and to this list. I've browsed much of
the archives of this list but have not found anything to help me with my immediate
needs.
I am tasked with developing software to communicate with a USB device that uses
the Anchor (now Cypress) EZ-USB chip. Anchor supplied windows development tools
and .sys generic drivers but no comparable support for the Macintosh.
Cypress's web support site has a "EZ-USB Development for Mac OS" notice that
references the developer.apple.com/hardware/usb site for USB DDKs for OS 9.x and
OS X. I have the kits. They also state "the good news for EZ-USB developers is
that sample drivers using EZ-USB microcontrollers are included in both DDKs." I
have been unable to find those sample drivers and have been unable to speak with a
live individual at Cypress to point me more specifically.
The application is very basic, Short (1 or 2 byte) OUTS followed by short (1 - 5
byte) IN replies using a single endpoint for all communication.
If anyone on this distribution has any experience with the EZ-USB I would
appreciate some hints. Any pointers to generic examples? Am I such a novice as to
not see the obvious answer for the vast pool of resources?
Thanks,
Richard Shamblin
