Re: Installing a USB Driver

Hi Chris,

I have a simple driver program, all that it does is create a log, I was trying to add it to the kernal using the 'kextload' through the terminal. The instal part does not work, I am getting a response back which says that the driver is not valid, also saying that it is missing a required property value of "OSBundleLibraries" I have looked and checked all of my code and could not find anything with that.

It is also saying that the "File owner/permissions are incorrect".

Is there anything special that I need to do to get this working.

Nothing "special," but you do have to follow the documented rules that apply to any kernel extension on Mac OS X.

If this is new to you, may I suggest you go through the "Hello I/O Kit" tutorial which covers the basics of bringing up an I/O Kit KEXT:

The other key document you should look at is "I/O Kit Device Driver Design Guidelines":

Good luck and welcome to the Mac!
