I understand that Safari (as of version 2.0) does not support MathML.
Are there any plans by Apple to add MathML support?
We don't have specific plans to add it, but we'd be happy to see
MathML support in WebKit. Now that WebKit is more thoroughly open
source, I encourage you to check out http://webkit.opendarwin.org and
make use of the resources there.
If not, I would be interested in adding MathML support to Safari.
I am the author of a MathML display and editing control for the
MS .net environment,
if interested, you can see what it can do at: http://
numerator.sourceforge.net.
I am interested in porting over this MathML rendering logic to
integrate with Safari.
My question is would it be better to develop this as a plugin, or
integrate it in directly
into WebCore?
I think directly integrated into WebCore would be better.
My question is if I get this working will in WebCore, would Apple
accept these contributions?
If the patches are well coded, then yes, they would be considered. We
are very open to outside contributions.
Regards,
Maciej
