Mystery page loads

I've been playing with webkit and I built up a little browser bit by bit without much trouble. It works pretty much like I'd expect any browser to. Today I went to http://www.ebay.com and something funny happened. The normal page loaded and then it went forward to a mystery page:
http://ebay.doubleclick.net/adi/ebay.us.homepage.inactive/inactive;tile=8;sz=275x300;ord=1086272958130;

If I click the back button it goes back to the main eBay page.

At first I thought it was a pop up window that I wasn't handling properly but it's not. I tested the pop up handling by going to excite which I knew would pop up windows like crazy as I navigated. I got all the pop ups I could eat. I went to ebay with safari and after enough reloads saw the image and link that came up in my mystery page.

I looked at the page source with safari and the doubleclick references seem to be associated with javascript functions. So, I'm thinking now this is some sort of javascript handling problem.

If I get this kind of strange behavior on eBay I could see it on others. Does anyone know what could be happening ?
