WebView Background Color Before Resources Load?

Subject: WebView Background Color Before Resources Load?

My webview is not in a window, but in a view contained in a window. Is there anyway to tell the webkit to draw that view background in 'black' - while we're waiting for some server to fess up with a webpage?

My guess is I will have to subclass WebView and substitute my own DrawRect routine. Any other takes?
