How to make PHP able to access another program

Hello,

Not sure this is the best place, but lots of PHP knowledge here so here's a shot.

How do you make a unix tool - or other program accessible to the PHP server?

Basically, I would like to transfer some information via a CFMessagePort to reduce IO and disk thrashing.

A main c++ program is on all the time, and I would love to be able to query it via the message port for info - but have no idea how to add a C program to PHP. A direct connection, or indirect via a tool - either way is fine. I would need the tool to remain open, and hopefully running all the time for the PHP server, too.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Neil Alexander
