Hi Kevin,
I was guessing this might be the case so I have added rdar:// 4800784 to
request this capability as what I have seem to do this presently seems not
the right way to do and have seem post of getting broken between OS
releases. I would also guess that I might not be the first either.

I'm certain this is not the first request, but thanks for filing the bug nonetheless!

It would also be a good way to integrate the new JavaScript Debugger,
straight into Safari instead of it being a separate .app.

The debugger, at a minimum, must be in a separate process; WebCore is single threaded.

I can think of lots great ways to extend out Safari, and while I know
everybody loves widgets, there are great only for specific tasks/ information
not for if you want a feature to be available across of the whole of web
browsing experience.

Thinking about this more, I wonder if there's value if WebKit enabled
applications would benefit of using these extensions as well, but my primary
focus is for Safari.

I would encourage anyone who is interested in this to submit patches to WebKit. The challenging nature of the problem is to come up with such an API that provides a maximal amount of control and override.
