stop rendering after webPlugInStart called?

Is there any way to stop a link from rendering in the browser after it has been clicked? After clicking a data URL, my plug-in performs some operations based on the data contained in the link. After webPlugInStart is called I would like the browser to show the same content as before the link was clicked. The behavior after clicking the link currently in Safari 2 is a blank page while in Safari 3 it is a grey page. Also, the address changes and it would be nice to preserve that as well if possible. I thought I could do something like telling the WebPluginController to stopLoading, but obviously I couldn't get it to work. Please help as I'm sure this is trivial to you WebKit hackers!

Jeff
