Sure, I think that will work best for you. Sorry that you have to do
the undo by hand. Luckily, it's relatively straightforward to do it.

changes in an undoable way.

magic words for that bug?
An enhancement request for this would be fine. I'd just ask for a way
to make DOM changes that are undoable. I don't know if we already
have a duplicate, but even if we do I don't think having another
would do any harm.
