In SQL-Server 2005 there is a "WITH ( IGNORE_CONSTRAINTS )" table hint, but I never tried it.

I looked at that but it seems that it is for batch operations only. It also totally ignores the constraints ("this can result in invalid data"), rather than just deferring them.

So, I am writing a delegate.

Can't just drop the constraints altogether?

I can't believe I just suggested that... <blech... washes mouth out with soap> ;-)

I'd do that for inheritance, no choice there. But for look up tables... I regret. I cannot. Bring myself to.
