Thanks for your replies, Mike and Jeremy. Our tech
coordinator is under the impression that X11 must be installed on our server and
she doesn't want to add anything that might interfere with the network and the
IP phones. However, if each lab computer can act as both the client and the
server, then this isn't an issue. I agree, she just doesn't want to make work
for herself. Very frustrating. We can't buy software, but when I find free
software, we can't use it because of issues like this. I'm afraid to press the
issue because if she is told to install the add-on, I can see her sabotaging
things and then pointing the finger at me because it was my idea.
