Re: role of ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist ?

Mike, thank you for what is by far the most useful piece of email
to come across this list in the three years I've been on it. I've
been using unix and X11 for over 15 years and Mac OS X since it
was in beta, but still learned new things from your mail. And
some of the things I already knew, I've rarely seen so clearly
and succinctly explained Thank you.

Of course, I _do_ have a nit to pick:

> CVSROOT
> Path to default CVS repository.

I'd just add, because I've seen people trip over it, that you're
generally better off not setting CVSROOT. In its absence, cvs
will look at ${PWD}/CVS/Root, which will do the right thing, with
the bonus of continuing to do the right thing even if you work
with more than one CVS repository --- a circumstance in which
having set the CVSROOT environment variable will trip you up.
