In general, when you copy something to the CLIPBOARD, it is the
current PRIMARY selection[*]. So, between supporting both (at the
same time) and supporting the PRIMARY selection only, there isn't
much difference.
[*] One can still copy something else to the CLIPBOARD, but I don't
think this is recommanded by any guideline and this would probably
confuse the user.
