Re: Freezing issue with Xquartz

Unfortunately, that doesn't help and as for you experiencing this only after the update, I am *highly* suspect of anything we've changed being the cause of this. We haven't touched anything with OpenGL. Is there any chance you can get the developers of this program to join xquartz-dev (http://trac.macosforge.org/projects/xquartz/wiki/MailingLists ) to help us figure this out?

Jeremy,

There is an option in the program to render the graphics using TK or Open GL. Here is a blurb about the choice on the program website.

Does this help. Unfortunately, I am a novice at the inner workings of X11. However, these freezing problems came with the upgrade from the standard Leopard X11 to the version 2.1.1 and 2.1.0.

What exactly do you mean by "TK Graphics"? AFAIK, TK isn't a graphics library. It is mainly a widget/windowing library. In fact, there many TK apps use OpenGL for 3D rendering... so I'm not really sure where to go with this without more information. Can you please clarify?

Hi all.

I have also been experiencing a bit of X11 freezing (and resulting in a indefinitely spinning beach ball) while using a piece of software (CCPNMR analysis). This program uses graphics that can be rendered by Open GL or TK graphics. When using TK graphics, I don't ever experience the freezing problem. However, if I render the graphics using Open GL, Xquartz will freeze up at some point that is never the same. This makes it hard to diagnose the problem.

I have mentioned this before, but I just stumbled upon the TK/ OpenGL difference and I thought that it might be useful for these other problems.
