My question is, how does that impact xterm and X clients since this
information goes back to the client. How does satellite latency
affect the keystrokes that I make or is there some kind of
buffering going on that it won't be problematic.
Unfortunately, the X protocol is very inefficient (many small
packets, including one for each keystroke, etc.), has no buffering,
and is fully synchronous (each operation must complete before the
next starts). Latency is really bad news.
