I have scoured the web, mailing list archives and forums for answers
to this issue but have been unsuccessful as of yet.
Basically, this is what I am seeing:
When I launch X11.app from the GUI (either in recent items or
directly from Applications->Utilities) my ~/.xinitrc is not loaded.
I confirm this by checking my $PATH variable which should be modified
by the ". $HOME/ .bash_profile" inclusion.
When I launch X11.app from the terminal by typing "open /Applications/
Utilities/X11.app", my ~/.xinitrc IS loaded and my $PATH variable is
set correctly.
I have deleted the X11.app prefs so that at launch I am prompted to
use the standard environment instead of my .xinitrc. I say no, to
keep my .xinitrc file but it doesn't seem to matter.
I also found in an old FAQ that mentions something about a plist
needing to be set up in ~/.MacOSX, except that directory does not
exist in my home dir. I am running 10.4.8 on a MacBook Pro.
Any Ideas?
