Wow. Those three sections describe me exactly too. Hooray for Carbon emacs! I almost never use X apps now, so it's not as much as a problem anymore, but it sure is annoying when you encounter it.
While we're pointing out little annoyances like this, may I mention that this is the one and only mailing list that I'm subscribed to that pressing "reply" doesn't default to sending a reply to the mailing list? Very annoying.
