Re: copy and paste between Aqua and X11 applications?

I have to add that I too no longer have this problem. I copy and paste back and forth all the time. Admittedly I use mostly the xterm and vi but even our own software, which we are running under X11, has no problem with this.

To go X11 - Aqua I just use the normal command-C/Command-V.

One of the problems I have with this is that most of the time Command-C in X11 applications - even in a simple xterm - does stictly nothing. A subsequent Command-V in Aqua will paste whatever was in the paste buffer before. Often, but not always, choosing the Edit->Copy menu entry (which is supposed to be the same as Command-C) works when Command-C does not.

To go Aqua - X11 I use Command-C/middle mouse button, which is what I use within X11 anyway.

This works for me for some X11 windows, but not for others, sometimes from the same application. It usually works for copying into an xterm, so for copying into other X11 windows I keep an open xterm around as an intermediate copy buffer.

All this has improved from the first X11 beta, where copying from and to Aqua was basically impossible, but it is still extremely annoying.

I've stopped thinking about this. In fact I end up using the middle mouse button to paste in Terminal.app also.

Does this not work for everyone?

No. I have long ago given up on trying to find out in which situation this works as advertised and why in many cases it doesn't.
