Unfortunately for Chinese the opposite is true. Sometimes I leave xclipboard running by mistake, and everything I try to paste (that is, in Chinese) become question marks :-(

Just a friendly warning in case there are other non-English X users
here... (and this applies to all X-based systems, not just to Apple's X)
