All the steps you suggested worked as clockwork (I
removed my DISPLAY setting and restarted the
computer).
Great!
Upon logging on the remote host I did get the
following message:
Warning: No xauth data; using fake authentication data
for X11 forwarding.
Yeah, this message is harmless, as long as windows actually show up.
but things seems to work fine AND NO YELLOW CURSOR
:)))) so I am not sure whether the message above
should worry me.
One thing only (ok now that so much has been mended I
almost feel I should not ask for more) running
applications such as VMD that require the use of
openGL has become VERY sluggish (to the point of being
almost impossible)... is this X11 ever getting back to
speed?
Hm. We saw some speed problems with OpenGL apps earlier in the
Leopard development cycle, but I thought they had been resolved.
Could you please file a bug on bugreporter.apple.com, including a link
to the program you're trying, and some simple steps to reproduce the
problem? Thanks!
