This will sound strange, but is /usr/X11/bin in your $PATH? If not, try putting it there; that should make configure scripts notice that you have X11 installed in /usr/X11. Strange, but true! (hopefully) -- Ben Byer CoreOS / BSD Technology Group, XDarwin maintainer
