I'm sorry but I may be a bit slow. (I'm one of those softball players
who just throw the ball in the air and swing the bat.) How else do I
fire up an xterm (preferably uxterm) without starting X11.app first?

Rather than launching /Applications/Utilities/X11.app, I have tried
placing /usr/X11/X11.app in the Dock and using that to launch my xterm
windows. Is that the way to do it? (Apart from its unfriendly
relationship with Spaces.)

Thank you for all your effort. I certainly hope all this feedback will
help in getting the immediate problems resolved. Specially utf-8 and
foreign character sets and the trackpad paste issue which renders X11
50% useless on my Mac/PowerBooks.
