One complaint I have about the current X11 is Xforwarding has YET to
work properly for me. no matter how I try to slice it.
I'm not sure if this is what you want, but the following works fine
for me:
In a terminal window:
ssh -Y user@somehost
then on remote host, e.g.
xeyes
causes X11 to fire up on the local machine, and the xeyes window to
appear there.
